Mission

Mission

The Mission of the HMS Center for Glycoscience is to improve human health through fundamental and clinical research in glycoscience.

Center contributions to the teaching, research and/or training missions of HMS:

  • The Center will be a key leader in research to understand the molecular mechanisms of glycoconjugate functions in biological processes and to further translate this knowledge into the prevention and cure of diseases.
  • The Center will provide education and training in glycoscience, offering relevant lectures and coursework within the curriculum of Harvard Medical School, Harvard graduate schools, and Harvard College, and also opportunities for hands-on training in technologies critical to glycoscience inquiry at all educational levels.
  • The Center will provide education and training in glycoscience, service its members and the research community in terms of providing access to technologies and resources critical for progress in the field, and provide a collaborative and facilitative environment to promote interdisciplinary fundamental and clinical developments involving glycoscience.
  • The Center will help engage and promote junior investigators with interest in glycoscience and assist with development of their funding applications and career development related to glycoscience.
